War Crime Court

Executive Order No. 131 establishes the Office of a War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia to address atrocities committed during the civil war from 1979 to 2003, including murder, genocide, rape, and looting. The order, issued by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, fulfills the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Liberia's international obligations. This office will create the framework for a special court to prosecute those responsible for war crimes and corruption, collaborating with international partners to ensure justice and accountability. The initiative aims to heal the nation's wounds, restore unity, and deter future crimes.
